Draco Rosa Launches New Management Company

Criteria Entertainment CEO Diana Rodriguez will run the new PHVX MGMT firm, Billboard has learned exclusively.

As he prepares to reissue a newly mastered version of his landmark album Vagabundo, Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Draco Rosa has launched a new management company to administer all aspects of his career. PHVX MGMT — an acronym that plays on the name of Rosa’s Phantom Vox Studio — will be headed by Diana Rodriguez, CEO of Criteria Entertainment.

Rodriguez will continue to helm Criteria, her entertainment company, which reps artists like Diamante Electrico, Mon Laferte and Flor de Toloache. But she will receive expanded support from Guillermo Morales, promoted to regional managing director for North America, and Sofia Villa, promoted to regional managing director for the Andean region.

At the same time, Rosa has also signed with Paradigm Talent Agency for his worldwide booking. The notion of remastering Vagabundo on the 22nd anniversary of the album’s release, says Rosa, came about after he played several concerts last year celebrating the Phil Manzanera-produced album, which was originally released in June 18, 1996 on Sony Music.

The new version, which will also come out on Sony, was remastered by Bob Ludwig (Jimi Hendrix, Metallica, Nirvana).

“I’ve wanted to remaster Vagabundo on vinyl for years,” said Rosa. “It’s an album that was initially rejected, and 22 years later, is considered one of the most important Spanish-language albums. It’s simply amazing.”

Vagabundo 22 will be released Aug. 10 as a limited edition on vinyl. It will include two previously unreleased tracks from Rosa’s archives: “Madre Tierra 22” and “Vertigo 22.”

In October, Rosa will release Monte Sagrado, his first studio album in four years.
